Whether it is fair or not, Marvin Bagley III has been put in a difficult situation to make the fans of the Sacramento Kings forget what they could have had.
After the Sacramento Kings finished their 2018-19 campaign with optimism and promise, they currently are experiencing a nightmarish season. With the expectation of finally breaking their 13-year playoff drought, the team has underachieved, which has resulted in multiple members of the organization to be rumored on the hot seat.

One of these members is Vlade Divac, who is the current vice president of basketball operations for the franchise. Throughout his tenure running the Kings, he has made questionable decisions that are still controversial.
The choice that most NBA fans, especially Kings fans, will remember is when Divac decided to invest the second overall pick in the 2018 draft on Marvin Bagley III over Luka Doncic, which has immediately become a monumental mistake (Sacramento Bee subscription required).
And Doncic’s recent game against the Kings, recording a triple-double consisting of 25 points, 17 assists and 15 rebounds, just added more salt to the wounds of defeated Sacramento fans.
As a result, Kings fans have expressed their displeasure of their team as they continue to watch the phenom that is Doncic dominate the league while making themselves suffer in imagining what it could have been if he repped the purple and white. Whether it is fair or not, this is the reality Marvin Bagley III has to deal with now and for the foreseeable future.
