Houston Rockets

This trade idea may come out of left field for some. The Houston Rockets are not performing at the level many expected them to. James Harden and Russell Westbrook are just not taking them to the Finals this year unless something changes.

In order to make this happen there needs to be a third team involved. In this proposed trade that team is the Minnesota Timberwolves.

In this deal, the Pistons get Andrew Wiggins from the Timberwolves, who is in the second year of a five-year max extension. This in itself would be a good haul for Drummond. Add to this the Rockets trading Clint Capela, who is also in year two of a five-year deal, and the Pistons would have their rebuild well under way.

The Rockets would have to trade away either James Harden or Russell Westbrook to make this work. They are unlikely to trade Harden so Westbrook would be the one going to the Timberwolves. Maker is simply a throw in to make the salaries work.

The Rockets would get Drummond, who is an upgrade over Capela. They would also secure the services of Robert Covington who is the 3-and-D player. Adding these two players would improve the Rockets defense immediately.

Langston Galloway is also a throw-in to make the salaries work. All teams would be improved by this deal and the Rockets will have two months to sell Drummond on the franchise. They will be in a better position to pay him as they also clear a huge part of their salary cap by trading Westbrook and Capela.
