How would Andre Iguodala help the Los Angeles Lakers?
Andre Iguodala would help any team that he plays for, let us have a look at how he would help the Los Angeles Lakers.
After being traded by the Golden State Warriors to the Memphis Grizzlies to make room for D’Angelo Russell, Andre Iguodala has been sitting out this season. At the age of 35, Iguodala wants to play for a true contender at the end of his career and he has stated the Los Angeles Lakers are a preferred destination.
Even prior to the season, Iguodala did not want to play for the Grizzlies, stating that he wanted to be traded to a contender. As a result the season is half over and Iguodala has not suited up for a game of basketball.

Let us for a moment think the Grizzlies grant Iguodala’s wish and either trade him to the Lakers or buy him out. Now that he has freshened his body, Igoudala will be ready to go for the second half of the season.
If he was able to sign with the Lakers, Iguodala would make an immediate impact. The 2015 Finals MVP would bring his trademark defense to this squad. He is well credentialed, being named twice to the NBA all-defensive team.
What this will do is allow LeBron James to rest more on defense. For the first time since his Miami Heat days, James has a player who has the standing in the game to hold him accountable.
Anthony Davis, an incredible defender himself, has brought a defensive intensity to the team. If James wants to keep him around, he needs to try on every defensive play which is something he did not do last year.
Having Igoudala on the team means that he can switch with Danny Green on the opposition’s prime offensive wing, a job currently being taken by James. While it is working at the moment, James is 35. Can he continue to play at this level for the rest of the season and into the playoffs?
This means that he is then going to be able to concentrate on running the offense, which he is already doing well. James is leading the NBA in assists with 10.9 per game. He has not shown any signs of slowing down but he is playing 34.9 minutes per game in his 17th season.
On top of his defense, Iguodala is also a three-time NBA champion. He did this on the generational Warriors team but as mentioned earlier, Iguodala was Finals MVP in 2015. To earn this honor, Iguodala slowed down none other than LeBron James.
He has shown he knows what it takes to win and will bring this knowledge to a franchise with two other winners, James and Green. This intangible quality of knowing how to win will help the Lakers out when they probably take on the LA Clippers in the playoffs at some point.
His ability to play against Paul George and Kawhi Leonard in big-game moments may help the Lakers get out of the West. This is huge because the Lakers have lost to the Clippers both times they have played this season.
Iguodala is not going to bring big numbers to the Los Angeles Lakers should he come. He will bring his defense and will to win, firm in the desire to win another championship.
