10 best point guards in Los Angeles Lakers history

6. Jim Price (1972-74)
The other half of the 1974 Lucius Allen trade, Jim Price began his Los Angeles Lakers career on a high note before being sent to the Bucks in exchange for Allen.
Price scored 18 points for L.A. in his pro debut, a win over Tiny Archibald and the Kansas City-Omaha Kings. That would remain Price’s season high output during a year in which he was voted to the All-Rookie Team despite playing only 14.0 minutes per game.

Price increased his workload significantly in Year 2, due in part to an injury to Jerry West. Price averaged 15.4 points, 4.5 assists and 1.9 steals per game and was voted to the All-Defensive Second Team.
He started off the next season averaging over 21 points and seven assists before the Lakers traded him to Milwaukee, where he went on to make the All-Star Game that season.
At the tail end of his career in 1978, Price returned to the Lakers. Now with West as his coach instead of his teammate, Price came off the bench and helped L.A. advance to the second round of the playoffs.
In a little over three seasons with the Lakers, Price averaged 9.9 points, 3.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
