Cleveland Cavaliers are ready to go all-in on young core
By Tony Pesta
Kevin Porter Jr.
The 30th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft has steadily become the most promising prospect on the Cleveland Cavaliers.
His fit with the team made sense right away. A versatile wing player that can move from guard to forward with ease. Porter is an exceptional athlete with raw defensive and offensive potential.
On offense, he has displayed a tight handle that he utilizes to get to his spots on the floor. He has punished many defenders with his speed and jumping ability, dunking over and crossing up opponents with ease.
The Cavaliers have played it safe with Porter. His minutes have been limited to just 21.9 per game and he has only started in one match. He has made the most of his time, averaging 14.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.3 steals per 36 minutes.
In a career-high performance against the Houston Rockets, Porter scored 24 points and drilled 6-of-9 3-pointers in a thrilling loss.
No player on this roster has shown more potential than Porter. His two-way play has sparked the Cavaliers at times this season and at 19 years of age, there is no telling how much better he can become. The Cavaliers may have the next Jimmy Butler on their team.
