1. Do. Not. Trade. Everybody.

We are officially in the 2019-20 trade season, as teams can trade the players they signed in July after December 15. Of the current Knicks roster, approximately 100 percent of it was signed in July.

After failing to land a single big-name free agent during the 2019 offseason, the Knicks rightfully chose to sign a large number of veterans on flexible team-controlled contracts. These players could easily be traded to contending teams to help them on their quest towards the championship, while also bringing draft picks and promising players to New York.

As a result, New York media has been going crazy for the past few weeks regarding which players should/will be traded until the trade deadline in February. While we don’t know for sure, it is highly unlikely that the Knicks maintain this current after the deadline.

While a few trades to shake up the roster and benefit a future Knicks team would be nice, trading away the majority of these players would be catastrophic.

The entirety of the Knicks roster is constantly being modified with trades and signing, resulting in the players struggling to find their groove. Currently, the longest-serving Knick is Frank Ntilikina who is just in his third season in the league.

Keeping players despite the trade offers emits the image of a well-constructed franchise that cares about the players, not the kind that treats them as if they were expendable, like every team in the league apart from the Knicks.

Stars will forever be willing to play in New York. We are dealing with the greatest city in the United States of America with rich basketball history. Sadly, if matters like these aren’t resolved soon, more and more players will keep choosing the Brooklyn Nets, as we saw last summer.
