Breaking down the top 5 Utah Jazz moments of 2019
By Dean Hasan
1. Gobert breaks records en route to an exceptional 2018-19 season
Rudy Gobert is the heart and soul of this Utah Jazz team and the Stifle Tower’s continued efforts were rewarded with Defensive Player of the Year, first team All-Defensive and third team All-NBA honors. He looked much improved offensively as well and he set a new NBA record for dunks in a single season with 306, beating Dwight Howard‘s old record of 269 by a wide margin.
Gobert also set new single-season Jazz records for field goal percentage (FG%), true shooting percentage (TS%), defensive rebound percentage, total rebound percentage and offensive rating.
Thus far in the 2019-20 season, Gobert has looked excellent on both ends of the floor, and he’s also averaging new career-highs in rebounds, field goal percentage and true shooting percentage to boot. He’s a top candidate for a center spot on this year’s All-Star, All-NBA and All-Defensive team, and he’s positioned to anchor the Jazz throughout a deep playoff run.
