Minnesota Timberwolves: Revisiting the 2010s
By Ethan Becker
2015-16 Season
Record: 29-53
High Point: The record improvement is an obvious answer for this one, but it’s not the one that’s worth too much focus, as 29 wins was still bad enough for the 26th-best record in the league.
One main bright spot was the drafting of Karl-Anthony Towns. KAT, as he would come to be called, showed immense promise right away, as he took the eighth-best spot in rebounds per game, the 10th-best spot in blocks per game and the 13th-best spot in Player Efficiency Rating.
Another highlight was the play of Andrew Wiggins. People forget about it now, but Wiggins’ sophomore campaign was really solid. He averaged 20.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game on 45.9 percent shooting from the field and 30.0 [ercemt shooting from 3-point range.
Low Point: It hasn’t been mentioned yet, but the Minnesota Timberwolves have had a consistent problem with attendance. Even though Target Center has the 11th-highest capacity in the league, the Timberwolves have always ranked in the low 20s in attendance and this was the worst season to date.
With the second-worst attendance in the league at 581,178, the fans have seemed to lose interest in the team, which hurts the franchise’s morale.
