Grading Minnesota Timberwolves through 11-game losing streak

1. Andrew Wiggins
*Gulps in worry*
Andrew Wiggins has played really well this season.
I know, I know, we’re all still supposed to be really mad at him for how he’s played over the last five seasons, but if you just take this year in a vacuum, the Canadian is having a bit of a career year.
Still, how he’s been playing over the season doesn’t matter, it’s how he’s been playing over the last 11 games. And how’s that been? Well … actually … really well.
Wiggins has averaged 24.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.2 blocks, and 0.8 steals per game over these last 11 games. Still, Wiggins’ numbers have always been really good, it’s his efficiency that has come under attack. But even that’s gotten better for Wiggins, as he now boasts a shooting split of 45/29/91.
Wiggins has missed just one of the last 11 games and he’s had a fairly consistent output in the games that he has played. He has only three games below 20 points, and two of those he had 19, and in half of those games he’s shot over 40%.
Defense, although it’s been a rough spot for the Timberwolves as a whole, has also been a really nice part of Wiggins’ game. He has just one game without a block or a steal, and he’s gotten multiple blocks or steals in six of his past 10 games.
If there is one area of his game that can still be critiqued it would be his 3-point shooting (a trend among Timberwolves players). From long range, Wiggins could still be labeled the “volume shooter” that he was critiqued as earlier in his career. Wiggins has a hard time getting above 30 percent, doing it just four times in 10 games.
