3 most memorable LA Clippers moments in 2019
1. Acquiring the superstars and more to come
As soon as Kawhi Leonard got shipped across the border to the Toronto Raptors, there was a high chance it was just for one year. All year long, there were stories, theories, rumors and speculation to where he was going to end up. As free agency approached, we knew what teams were in the mix — the LA Clippers, Lakers and Raptors.
Those moments that were just mentioned, they all led to this moment happening. Of course, he was not going to go there on his own. That set the motion for the Clippers to pull the trigger to acquire Paul George for a whopping seven total picks.
During the entire history of the franchise, it likely the Clippers had never acquired a better package in one offseason than this year. Leonard was the reigning Finals MVP and George was third in voting for the regular season MVP.
Instantly, these two plus the rest of the roster was made out to be this contender for the championship. Though they will not have as memorable a regular season as some people would want, postseason will be a different story.
Acquiring these superstars and going from barely an eighth seed to title contenders definitely deserves the top spot as the most memorable moment this year.
Hopefully, next year will be filled with much more of these memorable moments that could include Lou Williams winning a record-breaking fourth Sixth Man of the Year and maybe, just maybe, the best moment will be holding that Larry O’Brien Trophy in June.
