3 most memorable LA Clippers moments in 2019
2. Clinching the playoffs and making history
Since acquiring Chris Paul before the 2011-12 season, the LA Clippers had been a lock for the playoffs in every season that he was there. Although even with Paul, the amount of success they were able to get was somehow always quite disappointing, as if they had a glass ceiling.
The direction of the franchise seemed to have made a quick 180-degree turn when they decided to trade away Paul and soon, the rest of the team. Things got better when they acquired talents like Tobias Harris, but that didn’t last long.
Before the trade, somehow, someway, the Clippers were in a playoff race. However, once the trade was finalized, the fans expected them to just get the best draft pick, though that appeared not to be the case.
Fast forward to March 26.
The Clippers clinched a playoff berth, but what was more surprising is the fact that it was this Los Angeles team that made it. It wasn’t the Showtime Lakers with LeBron James, but their little brother.
Unfortunately, the Clippers could not have got a worse opponent to face in the first round … the almighty Golden State Warriors. People expected a quick series, especially after the first game.
Then, fast forward to April 15.
The Clippers found themselves down by 31 points and were looking to go down 2-0 in the series, but they managed to make history with the biggest comeback in the history of the NBA Playoffs. Not only that, they gave these Warriors a scare in the first round before bowing out in six games.
This truly was a memorable moment after the kind of season they had.
