4. Dennis Smith Jr. goes out West…again

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been rebuilding since forever and it hasn’t exactly been going according to plan. Having made the playoffs just once since 2004, the organization never hesitated to make any moves that were necessary for the team’s success.

One thing they have really struggled with is finding their franchise point guard. They tried things with Ricky Rubio, but it didn’t actually work out. Then, Jeff Teague was brought in, but he just wasn’t his Atlanta-self.

Dennis Smith Jr. could join Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins and Jarrett Culver to form a very promising young core that could very soon rule the West. Reggie Bullock would also help the Wolves with his sweet shooting, a team that is currently second-to-last in the NBA when it comes to 3-point shooting.

In exchange, the New York Knicks receive Shabazz Napier, a player that would fill Smith’s void as the third-string point guard just fine and is an upcoming free agent.

In addition to Napier, the Knicks would also add Jake Layman to the squad who is a great role player to have, tied down to a very cheap three-year, $11 million contract. His 10.5 points per game on 35.2 shooting from behind the arc make him the perfect low-cost role player to have.

Even though the Wolves aren’t a bottom-five team in the NBA, a protection would certainly come along with any potential first-round picks to be included in the deal.
