PG Jrue Holiday, New Orleans Pelicans
Everyone knows the value of an exceptional point guard in today’s NBA and Jrue Holiday happens to fit the bill as an impact player at the 1 spot. For those teams looking to upgrade their backcourt, the New Orleans Pelicans‘ veteran guard could come into play.
According to the New York Times’ Marc Stein, the Pelicans are open to fielding trade proposals — although they’re unwilling to move Zion Williamson or Brandon Ingram, someone like Holiday could be had for the right price.
Yet what that also means is Jrue Holiday is indeed available via trade, league sources say. It would surely cost a significant amount to pry him away from the Pels, but this is a notable change in status given how unavailable Holiday was to interested teams last season

This season obviously hasn’t gone as planned for the Pelicans, who figured to push for a playoff spot after an offseason overhaul that included the additions of Williamson, Ingram, Lonzo Ball and J.J. Redick. However, between injuries and regressions, the wins have been few and far between. Now looking to acquire even more long-term assets, Holiday has made his way onto the trading block.
It’s a tempting scenario to ponder for teams like the Miami Heat and Timberwolves, who could use an upgrade at the point guard position. That is, however, assuming they’re willing to take on the two years and nearly $53 million Holiday is still owed.
With New Orleans open for business, Holiday could soon be on the move. It won’t be easy putting together an enticing trade package, but don’t be surprised if he’s wearing a different jersey in the near future.
