5 NBA Draft prospects for Cleveland Cavaliers to watch
By Tony Pesta
5. Obi Toppin
Playing for Dayton, Obi Toppin has become one of the top shooting big men in college basketball.
Toppin is an efficient scorer with a pure stroke from beyond the arc. As a sophomore, Toppin has hit 10-of-24 shots (41.7 percent) from deep through his first eight games.
He has the potential to become a consistent scorer in the NBA. Toppin displays great efficiency across all areas on the court and can be used to spread the floor.
On the season, Toppin averages 21.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. He is smart about picking his spots on the floor, converting on 65.7 percent of his field-goal attempts.
The Cleveland Cavaliers should be able to use Toppin as a stretch 4 replacement for Kevin Love. It seems that Love’s days are numbered as his fit with the Cavaliers grows more questionable by the day.
This will be better for the Cavaliers moving forward as they attempt to replace their veterans with pieces for the future. Toppin may be the best option to replace Love.
