3. Marcus Morris continues playing well

The New York Knicks were lucky to land Marcus Morris this offseason. After Reggie Bullock needed to have his contract redone following his physical, there was extra money for Morris. He backed out of his verbal agreement with the San Antonio Spurs and signed with the Knicks.

While it wasn’t an ideal way to acquire a new player, the Knicks are lucky to have him. Morris has been their most consistent player this season and continued that great play during this road trip.

Morris averaged 19.5 points per game during this trip, including 36 points against the Golden State Warriors. In the game against the Warriors, Morris knocked down 5-of-9 3-pointers and willed the team to a victory after they blew a big lead.

Morris has been a great leader for the Knicks and is someone that Mike Miller should continue to rely on as long as he is here. What would this team’s 3-point shooting look like without Morris’ 48.2 percent from there? Morris isn’t the perfect player, but he brings a lot of positives to the court that the team needs.

How much longer Morris is on the team is anyone’s guess. With how well he has been playing, there have been rumors that contending teams could offer a first-round pick for him in a trade. It will be difficult for the Lakers to turn down an offer like that, especially since Morris is set to hit free agency again this summer.
