5. Coby White’s fourth-quarter explosion against New York Knicks

During his lone season at UNC, Coby White posted averages of 16.1 points and 4.1 assists per contest. He recorded the fifth-highest scoring average by a Carolina freshman and set a UNC freshman record by hitting 82 shots from 3-point range.

On the heels of a solid season at Carolina, the Bulls selected Coby White with the No. 7 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft and that decision has paid early dividends. One of the rookie’s memorable performances took place against the New York Knicks on Nov. 12.

In that contest, he scored 27 points, but his point total doesn’t tell the entire story. White started that game by missing his first five shot attempts and had amassed just four points going into the final frame.

Then it happened.

In the final 12 minutes, all the rookie guard did was score 23 points while knocking down seven 3-pointers, setting a team record for most 3-pointers made in a quarter.

After starting the game 0-for-5 from the field, the rookie guard went 8-for-9 the rest of the way to help the Bulls beat the lowly Knicks 120-102. While a sample size of 26 games isn’t enough to determine how successful a player will be in the NBA, White has given the Bulls reason to believe that they may have found their point guard of the future based on what we’ve seen so far.
