Grizzlies’ current outlook

The Memphis Grizzlies are officially in rebuild mode. They’ve moved franchise cornerstones Marc Gasol and Mike Conley and are now rebuilding with a youth movement centered around Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr.

Memphis will likely be active sellers once trade season starts. Two of their veteran wings — Andre Iguodala and Jae Crowder — are on expiring contracts. Crowder has started every game for Memphis and there haven’t been many reports that Memphis will try to move him.

Iguodala, meanwhile, is almost certain to be traded as soon as possible. He, along with a protected first-round draft pick, was traded from the Golden State Warriors to Memphis in an effort to dump salary. From the jump, Iguodala made it known he had no interest in being a member of the Grizzlies.

He and the team mutually agreed to let him be away from the team as they looked to trade him.

Yet the Grizzlies still haven’t been able to find a new team for Iguodala despite several teams showing interest. The 2015 Finals MVP reportedly wants to be on a contender, but Memphis doesn’t have to bend to his will. It’s in their best interest to look for the best package of assets they can get.

Memphis’ phone will be busy once Sunday arrives and the Miami Heat should be among those teams trying to acquire Iguodala.
