Sunday is the first day that players signed this offseason can be traded. A lot of players become eligible for trades, opening avenues for teams to take one of two routes: buying or selling.
Buyers consist of teams that are looking to contend for a championship. They will be looking for players that can increase their chances at a title. Most players projected to be available are career-long role players, but some are former All-Stars.
Sellers are teams that are building for the future rather than gunning for a playoff spot this year. They have veterans that could help contenders on short term contracts and will look to move them to add more assets for their rebuild.
The Heat will be looking to buy. They’ll be on the lookout for veterans on bad teams that can help them. One such veteran, a former NBA champion currently on the roster of the Memphis Grizzlies, can be a valuable postseason contributor while coming at an inexpensive cost.
