With three first-round selections in the 2019 NBA Draft and a healthy roster consisting of experienced vets such as Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson, the Cavs planned on being competitive this season.
For a brief moment, it looked as if the Cavaliers would actually be in the playoff picture. A 4-5 start saw the Cavs starting five become one of the most productive in the entire league. Since then, things have gotten ugly.
Cleveland has gone 2-14 since their hot start and are in 14th place in the Eastern Conference. The wheels are coming off and a report by Jason Lloyd states that everyone aside from Darius Garland is available in trade talks (subscription required).
Making a sizeable trade is a risky move but it could be what this franchise needs to jump start the rebuild. The Cavaliers young core have shown flashes of potential but it’s clear something needs to change.
