2. The Kristaps Porzingis trade

Though this was in no way a pleasant moment in New York Knicks basketball throughout the 2019 calendar year, the Kristaps Porzingis trade was so crucial that it at least deserved a mention here.

By moving Kristaps, the franchise turned over a new leaf and shifted its attention to the 2019 NBA Draft and free agency class. I’ll pause for sarcastic comments and smug faces.

Since the aforementioned plans didn’t quite pan out, the Knicks chose to sign a large number of veterans on short-term contracts in order to help mentor the young core while also maintaining financial flexibility for the upcoming free agency pools.

The Kristaps Porzingis trade was not just any other trade. Like anything to ever happen around New York, it was filled with unnecessary drama and total media coverage to a ridiculous extent.

Most fans of the New York Knicks were so sickened by Porzingis’ approach towards the organization that they were actually relieved to see him go. One day he is a Knick, then the next he doesn’t want to be a part of the organization.

As a result, you could say that this is a semi-positive moment of the calendar year. Nevertheless, it remains the most distinguishable incident of them all. And boy have there been incidents to choose from …
