Conclusion

The Minnesota Timberwolves had a phenomenal opening to their season, going 4-2 through their first six games against some fairly tough competition. If that stretch proved anything, it proved that Minnesota does have what it takes to pick up wins against talented teams.

The most important factor in the next month of games for the Timberwolves is their mentality. If they let a few early losses get to them, their history has shown that’s the point the organization starts to pack it in and get ready for next year.

A big part of that mentality is fan support. If Timberwolves fans (a certain writer very much included) jump on Twitter or Facebook after one or two bad games and proclaim they’re giving up on the team, then there’s nothing for the players to play for. The fans need to ride out tough stretches in the schedule just as much, if not more, as the players do.

If Minnesota lets a recent string of failures get to them, it can only beget more failure. However, if they stay the course and keep morale high, then there’s a good chance that the team could come out on top after this month of games. The fans, however, are a big part of that. They are why the NBA happens, and who the players perform for.
