The Indiana Pacers escaped the often-dreaded “first game against a new coach” game on Saturday night, holding off the Knicks down the stretch for a 104-103 victory, capping a 3-1 week. The one loss was at Detroit, wrapping up their season series with the Pistons by going 1-3, the second time in three seasons Indiana has dropped the season series to Detroit.

Malcolm Brogdon had a nice all-around game in the win at Memphis Monday, scoring 19 points with nine assists and six rebounds. Over the four games last week, Domantas Sabonis put up 18.0 points, 13.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 34.4 minutes per game, shooting 53.4 percent overall and going 0-for-4 from 3-point range.

The Denver Nuggets stumbled a bit last week with a 1-2 mark and they have lost three of their last four overall on the heels of a six-game winning streak. Denver closes out a four-game Eastern trip at Brooklyn and Philadelphia this week before returning home to open a five-game homestand.

Nikola Jokic snapped out of his early-season funk a bit in the loss at Boston Friday, scoring 30 points — a season-high — to go with 10 rebounds and four assists. For the week, Jokic averaged 16.3 points, 8.3 assists and 6,7 assists in 30.0 minutes per game, shooting 50.0 percent overall while hitting 1-of-8 from 3-point range.
