2. Turnover problems

Along with fouls, the Dallas Mavericks were also able to add some key points off the 12 turnovers committed by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Those miscues led to nine points from Dallas.

While that total doesn’t seem too high, in a game where you were only up by four going into the final quarter and you ended up losing by seven, each one of those points can go a long ways toward killing your team’s momentum.

A major problem with the turnovers was that nearly all of them were unforced. At one point in the third quarter, the Timberwolves had turned the ball over three times in four possessions in a 90-second span.

Turnovers are a major problem for the Timberwolves especially, because they already struggle on defense and unforced mistakes which lead to fast breaks can only go to hurt a team that struggles with its transition defense. And that came to be a problem in this game, as the Mavericks scored 12 fast-break points in this game.
