The Wolves entered the fourth quarter up 84-80, but because of some key Mavericks runs (which we’ll touch on a bit later), they quickly found themselves put in a hole that they just couldn’t get out of.
The loss was just the third road loss of the (admittedly young) season for the Timberwolves, but with a dire record of 3-7 at home, every win they can pick up is important, especially in the Western Conference.
With the Timberwolves’ early run coming to an end and as the team quickly slips down the Western Conference standings, this game was critical. It moved the Wolves to 10-10, the first time they haven’t been above .500 all season. Minnesota is currently in seventh place in the West.
Still, every game comes with something that you can take away from it and this game was no exception. If the Wolves want to finish out this massive four-game road stretch strong (with the next game on Friday in Oklahoma City), they will need to integrate these things into the “don’t do this” part of the game plan.
