2020 NBA Draft will put pressure on Cleveland Cavaliers

1. Trade Sexton or Garland
The Cleveland Cavaliers can really shake things up this offseason by trading either Collin Sexton or Darius Garland.
We knew this was an option almost immediately after the franchise drafted Garland with the No. 5 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. Having two undersized guards as the building blocks for the future is a risky move.
The Cavaliers are hoping that Garland and Sexton can bloom into a dynamic scoring duo the likes of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum. However, the ceiling for Lillard and McCollum appears low. So, why would the Cavaliers set their goals on this type of future?
It makes more sense for the Cavaliers to trade either Garland or Sexton. Ideally, Cleveland would receive another draft pick or a suitable wing player in return.
Which player gets traded is something the front office will have to determine at the season’s end. Sexton is showing real talent offensively and has improved as a defender. Still, the overall sense is that Garland has the highest potential of the two.
Garland hasn’t lived up to the hype yet, but he has the rest of the season to prove himself. He has steadily been improving, shooting 13-of-30 (43.3 percent) from the 3-point line over his last five games.
There are many factors that will impact this decision. What pick will the Cavaliers land in the draft? What does the trade market look like for Sexton/Garland? Has either one of them proven to be worthy of remaining on the roster over the other?
It’s going to be interesting to watch this scenario play out. One thing is for certain, Sexton and Garland have a lot on the line this season.
