It hasn’t been a perfect start but the franchise is looking much better than they did in the previous season. No longer complete pushovers, the Cavaliers have made the majority of their games competitive this season.
Cleveland has found success with its starting lineup. Collin Sexton, Darius Garland, Cedi Osman, Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson have wasted no time getting the ball rolling for this young squad.
Though the future is looking bright, there are some obvious holes in the Cavaliers rotation. Osman has had strong moments at the forward position, but a more reliable option must be found in order to take the next step towards becoming playoff contenders once again.
This is unfortunate as the 2020 NBA Draft seems to be lacking wing talent. The top prospects all appear to be guards and centers. Players such as Anthony Edwards, James Wiseman and LaMelo Ball are currently the most coveted prospects entering the draft.
This leaves the franchise in an interesting position. The Cavaliers feel they have found something special in their backcourt pairing of Sexton/Garland and have enough talent in the frontcourt to move forward.
Does this mean the Cavaliers will pass up on the top prospects in order to draft according to their needs? Or will they stack the deck as they did with Garland and draft the best player available?
Assuming the Cavaliers are lucky enough to secure a top-five pick once again, the front office will have to make some tough decisions. There are three realistic options for Cleveland and today we will analyze each scenario.
