We take a look at and share some takeaways from the New York Knicks’ weekend back-to-back against the San Antonio Spurs and Brooklyn Nets.
Things have not gone well for the New York Knicks thus far in the 2019-20 season. Despite spending a lot of money on veterans in the offseason, the results have not translated to the court, as they have a record of 4-13. Two more losses were added to that record this weekend.

The Knicks are entering a brutal stretch of their schedule. They brought a little momentum into it, winning two of three games against the Cleveland Cavaliers and Dallas Mavericks, with a heartbreaking loss to the Charlotte Hornets in between. However, any positive momentum that was built has dissipated.
New York blew a lead against the Philadelphia 76ers before hosting a back-to-back set at Madison Square Garden this weekend. Things didn’t get any better against the San Antonio Spurs and Brooklyn Nets in those two games.
The Spurs came into Madison Square Garden and controlled things right from the opening tip. The Knicks made a run in the second half, but the lead was too much to overcome. It was much of the same against the Nets, who opened up a double-digit lead in the first half as well, let the Knicks get close in the second half, but eventually came away with the victory.
It was disappointing, to say the least, as New York has played this tune throughout the season. They dig themselves a huge hole, battle all the way back and come up short. This response from Julius Randle pretty much sums it up.

Unfortunately, those slow starts happened in both games and ultimately did in New York.
Despite the two losses, it wasn’t all bad for the Knicks in the weekend back-to-back. Here are four takeaways from the games against the Spurs and Nets this past weekend.
