Previous: . Orlando Magic. 15. team. 38. . 6-9

Last week: Lost at Toronto 113-97, lost at Indiana 111-106

This week: Monday at Detroit, Wednesday at Cleveland, Friday vs. Toronto

The Orlando Magic appeared to be on the verge of getting their slumbering offense going, entering this week with three straight wins, but lost All-Star center Nikola Vucevic to a sprained right ankle in the first half of their loss at Toronto on Wednesday. Vucevic is expected to miss at least four weeks.

Vucevic’s injury was compounded by Aaron Gordon spraining his right ankle at Toronto, so that the Magic were able to battle as well as they did in their loss at Indiana on Saturday night spoke well of the team being able to play through adversity.

Orlando’s four-game trip through the Rust Belt continues with games at Detroit and Cleveland this week before they go home to host the Raptors and Warriors.

Jonathan Isaac did what he could against the Pacers, scoring 25 points with nine rebounds and four steals and in the Magic’s two games put up 41 points, 22 boards, five steals, five blocks and four assists. He shot 51.6 percent overall and was 4-for-10 from 3-point range, including 4-of-6 at Indiana.

86. . 8-8. Previous: . Minnesota Timberwolves. 14. team

Last week: Won at Utah 112-102, lost to Utah 103-95, lost to Phoenix 100-98

This week: Monday at Atlanta, Wednesday at San Antonio

The Minnesota Timberwolves last week continued their bizarro start to the season, winning a tough road game at Utah before coming home to drop two straight games.

That leaves the Wolves just 3-6 at home thus far, but Minnesota is 5-2 on the road. Based on that math, this week should be good for the Timberwolves with two road games.

It’s an anomaly to be sure; Minnesota hasn’t had a losing record at home since going 20-21 in 2016-17. Conversely, the Wolves haven’t had a winning road record since 2003-04 and have only turned the trick three times in their 30 seasons prior to this one.

Karl-Anthony Towns is still shooting the lights out from 3-point range and scouring the glass. He had 31 points, 17 rebounds and four assists in the loss to the Suns Saturday, going 6-for-12 from deep. For the week, Towns averaged 24.7 points, 14.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.3 blocks in 34.9 minutes per game, shooting 51.9 overall and a robust 50.0 percent on 11.3 deep tries a night.
