3. No. 1 pick Andrew Wiggins looks to have finally arrived

Andrew Wiggins had long been a headcase for anyone who followed NBA basketball. Here was a former No. 1 overall pick with incredible god-given talent who was content to hoist mid-range jumpers and fill up the box score with indifference on the outcome of the game at hand.

Now, the five-year veteran is posting career-highs in points, rebounds and assists, but that’s only the tip of a revolutionary iceberg for a player whose game seemed to be set in stone.

His percentage on both 2s and 3s is his best ever. Wiggins cut down on those infamous long 2s with a greater emphasis on using his athleticism to attack the basket at a frequency that ranks near the top of the NBA.

Karl Anthony-Towns has the co-star he’s desperately needed and the Minnesota Timberwolves have gotten off to an encouraging 8-7 start on the season that has them among the playoff participants out West.

Many felt Wiggins’ $147 million contract was unearned and for a while, the haters were justified after Wiggins’ progress came mostly to a halt after signing that max deal.

Now, the former top pick is living up to his potential with a spot in the All-Star Game conversation possibly to follow, placing the Timberwolves back on the right path towards contention in the process.
