Were … were we wrong about Minnesota Timberwolves wing Andrew Wiggins?
By Ethan Becker
1. Team value
Possibly the best reason to support Andrew Wiggins and hope that he continues to improve is the value that he would bring to the team. Not just in a plus/minus situation; if Wiggins can continue to improve he could have some major trade value for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
But even outside of that, if Wiggins continues to improve they might not be looking to trade him. The Wolves might instead look to get him on a more reasonable contract and hope to see that incline gradually increase.
Right now, Wiggins’ value to the Timberwolves is at an all-time high. They’ve struggled in their games without him and he’s been a catalyst for more than one win over the relatively short season.
Luckily, Wiggins was missing games due to the flu and not an injury, so he should be back to top form in a matter of weeks. If that form is what we saw through the first five games or so, the Timberwolves could look to go on another great run like the one they had to start the season.
