Were … were we wrong about Minnesota Timberwolves wing Andrew Wiggins?
By Ethan Becker
Over the years, Andrew Wiggins has faced no lack of criticism from Minnesota Timberwolves fans. But is he showing us this year that we were wrong all along?
Andrew Wiggins has gotten a lot of criticism over the last three years of his tenure with the Minnesota Timberwolves. In fact, there were some who suggested simply cutting Wiggins, because the belief was that a Wiggins-less Timberwolves squad would fare better than a team with Wiggins, even if it meant swallowing that massive contract.

However, that mindset seems to be slowly changing as the 2019-20 NBA season plays out, mainly, because Wiggins has actually played fairly well for Minnesota.
Now, as Wiggins missed three games before returning Wednesday night against the Utah Jazz, it’s a fair time to evaluate whether or not Minnesota fans have been too harsh on Wiggins (myself included).
There are a few ways in which we can judge Wiggins contribution and benefit to the Timberwolves, most of which will be touched on at least in brief. But the bigger point is this: if we criticize Wiggins for his lack of production over these last few years, then when he begins to show signs of turning around, it’s only fair that we give him his due praise.
