2. RJ Barrett playing 33.6 minutes per game

In a team with potentially 15 role players, head coach David Fizdale has entrusted RJ Barrett with a fair share of minutes. Fizdale is even using him more than $62 million signing Julius Randle.

It is quite rare to see a rookie receive that much playing time, even when it is on a struggling team. This, though, is a two-way road. Fizdale is using Barrett excessively and RJ is paying him back by playing at an elite level.

Barrett, now among the front runners for the Rookie of the Year award, is slowly turning out to be exactly what New York Knicks fans needed after a completely disastrous 2019. In a year filled with drama, trades, lottery and free agency misfortunes, the Maple Mamba has now become the silver lining for the fans.

Most times, fans have to sit patiently and wait for the team’s coach to decide whether a rookie will play or not. Thankfully, that is not the case with the Knicks and we have been granted the gift that is RJ Barrett, a future star that, most importantly, loves playing for the New York Knicks.
