3. They allow 4.9 fewer points per game than last year

This is a huge improvement for the New York Knicks. During the 2018-19 NBA season, the Knicks allowed their opponents to score an average of 113.8 points per game on them. It would be almost impossible to be an even decent team while giving up that many points.

Luckily for them, it is a whole different story this year. By allowing just 108.9 points per game, they are currently among the top half of the league’s defenses.

Even though defense is a team activity, a huge portion of the praise must be given to two young stars of the team.

Frank Ntilikina has once again proven that he belongs among the most elite perimeter defenders in the league. Basically, when you are the main ball-handler and you are guarded by Frank, you won’t be able to do much all night. Regardless of who you might be.

The second toast must be raised to Mitchell Robinson, who despite battling minor injuries has built on an insane rookie campaign by staying atop the defensive rankings.

By averaging 1.9 blocks in just 18.9 minutes of playing time, Robinson currently ranks as the seventh-best shot blocker in the NBA.
