1. Ja Morant, Memphis Grizzlies
18.4 PPG, 3.3 REB, 6.0 AST
Exciting isn’t enough to describe what Ja Morant is doing for the league right now.
He’s already a national draw and the most entertaining lead guard the Memphis Grizzlies have had in franchise history (yes, I’m confident in making that bold claim).
Shot making from all over the court, acrobatic finishes in the lane, timely defensive playmaking. Morant has flashed a complete package on both ends of the floor and has even stepped up as a true first option in crunch time.
The sky is truly the limit for Morant moving forward, leaving many to wonder just how can Memphis climb in the years to come?
Jaren Jackson Jr. and Ja give the Grizzlies franchise two high-level prospects to build around with role players who can shoot and defend.
And that’s exactly what the team needs to complement what Morant already does so well. Having guys around him who can hit shots off his pick-and-roll dishes and step in and help when he loses his man on defense will elevate his natural strengths and turn Memphis into a power in the Western Conference in the near future.
There’s no reason to believe Morant won’t keep up the impact he’s already had and continue to improve. His dynamic athletic ability, work ethic and motor all scream potential superstar.
If he can continue to make shots from outside the paint at a respectable clip, then there’s no telling where how high his scoring totals and wins will continue to climb.
