Analyzing success of Cleveland Cavaliers starting 5

G: Collin Sexton
In his sophomore season, Collin Sexton is picking up right where he left off.
As a rookie, Sexton displayed a great will to improve. In the second half of his first year, Sexton averaged 23.1 points per game. The Young Bull has made a conscious effort to strengthen his weaknesses even more over the summer and the work is paying off.
Sexton is still scoring at an efficient rate from the field. Through the first few weeks of the season, Collin is averaging 18.7 points per game on 39.6 percent deep shooting and 44.3 percent shooting overall.
He clearly remembers being snubbed from the 2018 Rising Stars Challenge by Kevin Knox, as Sexton exploded for a career-high 31 points in a 21-point victory over the New York Knicks.
One area of Sexton’s game that has significantly improved is his defense. The effort level on this end of the floor has been ramped up as his lateral quickness makes him a pest for opposing ball handlers.
Sexton has shown a knack for disrupting plays with his bursts of speed around screens. Though his size still makes him vulnerable, he has real potential to become a great perimeter defender.
Overall, Sexton is looking impressive. He still has to learn how to control his speed in the open floor but is displaying an increased understanding of the game in his second season.
