3. Wayne Ellington
During the 2018-19 season, the New York Knicks were horrendous when they were shooting from behind the arc. They shot just 34 percent, third-worst in the NBA. As a result, they decided to add Wayne Ellington and Reggie Bullock to the squad in order to cure those problems.
Unfortunately, Bullock has been out for the past few months and is currently recovering from surgery in July to repair a herniated disk.
It is incredibly likely that we will see these two in a friendly competition for the “main sharpshooters” spot all year long, as their respective games share very few discrepancies.
As a result, you’d expect Ellington to take full advantage of this head start that he’s been granted. You’d be absolutely wrong.
Ellington shooting percentages are abysmal. He is shooting 30.2 percent from the field, which would be a career-low by a landslide. Additionally, he is launching the 3-point shot at 26.3 percent, also a career-low by a landslide.
Bullock is set to be re-evaluated very soon and his chances at cracking the rotation with a good share of minutes appear to be increasing with every one of Ellington’s poor shooting nights.
