Samuell Williamson, Louisville

Position: SF
Height: 6’7”
Weight: 190

Heading back to the Louisville basketball program, this time it’s to talk about freshman Samuell Williamson. He is a five-star recruit who joined a loaded team led by veteran players. Williamson probably won’t start for this team, but he will need to show he can make an impact off of the bench. He is a very talented player who has a chance to be a high riser during the draft process

At 6’7” he has good size for a wing and is very sharp on the offensive end. Williamson can create shots with the ball in his hands and can get to his spots and score at all three levels of the floor. He has a sturdy frame and is powerful when attacking the rim or grabbing rebounds.

Williamson can play both small forward and shooting guard and his build could be what the Portland Trail Blazers are looking to add to their backcourt. They need someone with Williamson’s size who can get buckets in this offense and help take the pressure off of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum.

Williamson won’t have to be the go-to option and should thrive better in a more open NBA.

He is a young player, but the tools and skills are there that could help him see some early minutes as a rookie. His basketball talent would pair well at the forward spot with Nassir Littles’s excellent physical tools and athletic ability. Adding Williamson would give the Blazers one of the better young groups of players in the NBA in Williamson, Nassir Little, Anfernee Simons and Zach Collins.
