Can Minnesota Timberwolves continue great run? Yes … and no
By Ethan Becker
Why it will stop: Mentality
A big trend the Minnesota Timberwolves have seen over the years is when they lose one or two games, that streak typically extends to five or six straight losses. Over the last five seasons (2014-15 to 2018-19), The Timberwolves have lost an average of 50.2 games per season and after their first six games of the season, they’ve averaged a total of just 6.2 instances where a loss was followed by a win, most of those coming on the end of back-to-backs.
The Timberwolves haven’t seen many losses so far this season and they’ve already won after their first loss, but it’s still early in the season. Not only that, but Minnesota is staring down the stretch at 11 back-to-backs, with 12 of those 22 games coming against potential playoff teams.
Although the Timberwolves are looking at one of the easiest stretches of games in their schedule, their mentality can affect them much more than the talent of the opposing team and, considering that they’re coming off a momentum-killing 134-106 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, there is reason — and precedence — for Timberwolves fans to start to worry.
