Why it will continue: Karl-Anthony Towns

Karl-Anthony Towns is having a fairly quiet MVP level season. Currently, he’s averaging 27.3 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.8 blocks per game on a shooting split of 54.4/52.9/63.0. He also currently leads all players in the NBA in Player Efficiency Rating (PER) with 36.05.

Obviously, the biggest black mark in Towns’ game right now is his free throw shooting, which he readily admits needs to be better.

In recent years, Towns has been one of the few players who fans and experts agree has been snubbed for some All-Star teams, but if he keeps up this level of play, there’s no way that Towns won’t make one of the All-Star teams this season.

The Minnesota Timberwolves seem to have weathered the storm without Towns fairly well over these last two games, but it’s obvious that they’d much rather have him than not. To begin with, he’s finally emerged as the leader on this young Wolves team, but another reason is that Minnesota is just more likely to win games with him on the court.
