Portland Trail Blazers. 16. team. 34. . 3-3. Previous:

Last week: Lost at San Antonio 113-110, won at Oklahoma City 102-99, lost to Philadelphia 129-128

This week: Monday at Golden State, Thursday at Clippers, Friday vs. Brooklyn, Sunday vs. Atlanta

The Portland Trail Blazers are running out of bigs.

Entering the season with Jusuf Nurkic still on the shelf recovering from the leg fracture he sustained last March and Pau Gasol out with a foot injury, the Trail Blazers are now without Hassan Whiteside, who has a sore knee, while Zach Collins had surgery to repair a dislocated left shoulder with no timetable set for his return.

The Blazers played three nail-biters last week, going 1-2, but Damian Lillard was still cooking. He scored 33 points on 11-of-16 shooting in the loss to the 76ers, going 8-for-11 from 3-point range with nine assists, but his seven turnovers did not help the cause.

For the week, Lillard put up 28.0 points, 9.7 assists, 7.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 38.7 minutes per game on a shooting slash of .429/.500/.882.

73. . 4-2. Previous: . Denver Nuggets. 15. team

Last week: Won at Sacramento 101-94, lost to Dallas 109-106, lost at New Orleans 122-107, won at Orlando 91-87

This week: Tuesday vs. Miami, Friday vs. Philadelphia, Sunday at Minnesota

The Denver Nuggets stubbed their collective toe a bit this week, losing at home to the Mavericks Tuesday before getting smacked around by the previously winless Pelicans on Thursday.

Small forward Will Barton has missed the last two games with a toe injury, with Torrey Craig getting the starts in his place. But the Nuggets are another team struggling to find its shooting touch, with a 41.8 percent field goal rate that is 26th in the NBA.

Jamal Murray showed some signs of breaking out of his early slump in Saturday’s win at Orlando, scoring 22 points on 7-of-15 shooting, while hitting 2-of-3 from downtown. On the year, Murray leads Denver with an average of 18.5 points per game while also putting up 4.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 32.8 minutes per night.

He’s now shooting 42.7 percent overall and is up to 34.5 percent on 4.8 3-point attempts per game.

team. 147. . 2-4. Previous: . Brooklyn Nets. 14

Last week: Lost to Indiana 118-108, won vs. Houston 123-116, lost at Detroit 113-109

This week: Monday vs. New Orleans, Friday at Portland, Sunday at Phoenix

The Brooklyn Nets have been difficult to figure thus far, going 1-2 for the second consecutive week after losing at Detroit Saturday night in a game in which each team blew a double-digit lead.

The Nets are the top 3-point shooting team in the NBA at 40.3 percent, but their 69.6 percent free throw shooting has cost them dearly already, as have their 19.3 turnovers per game — second-worst in the NBA. The turnover battle is compounded by Brooklyn’s opponents committing just 13.3 per game — the fourth-fewest in the league.

In terms of turnovers per 100 possessions, the Nets are 27th per Cleaning the Glass with a rate of 17.8 percent and last in the NBA with their opponents’ turnover percentage of 12.3.

Taurean Prince has been a bright spot after signing a two-year, $29 million extension just before the season started. Prince is averaging 15.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 33.2 minutes per game, shooting 44.4 percent overall and from 3-point range.

He blew up for season-highs of 27 points and 12 rebounds in the win over Houston and is 11-for-18 from deep over the last two games.
