38. . 2-4. Previous: . Orlando Magic. 22. team

Last week: Lost at Toronto 104-95, won vs. New York 95-84, lost to Milwaukee 123-91, lost to Denver 91-87

This week: Tuesday at Oklahoma City, Wednesday at Dallas, Friday vs. Memphis, Sunday vs. Indiana

The playoff hangover appears to be very real for the Orlando Magic, whose offense disappeared in their first-round loss to the Toronto Raptors and is still missing in action.

Orlando is fifth in the NBA with a defensive rating of 99.0, but has lost four of six games because their offense is barely firing on one cylinder, much less all of them, with an offensive rating of 94.6 (Spoiler alert: That is last in the Association). The Magic have an effective field goal percentage of 44.9, so they are truly ineffective at being effective thus far.

Nikola Vucevic had a nice bounce-back game against the Knicks on Wednesday, scoring 21 points with 13 rebounds and four assists in Orlando’s lone win of the week. That came on the heels of scoring five points on 1-of-13 shooting in Monday’s loss to the Raptors.

But one has to assume that at some point, the Magic’s shooting woes will normalize because 39.7 percent overall and 28.3 percent from 3-point range are numbers that are not likely to remain that ghastly over 82 games.

21. team. 156. . 2-4. Previous: . Cleveland Cavaliers

Last week: Lost at Milwaukee 129-112, won vs. Chicago 117-111, lost at Indiana 102-95, lost vs. Dallas 131-111

This week: Tuesday vs. Boston, Friday at Washington, Sunday at New York

The Cleveland Cavaliers came back to Earth a bit last week, going 1-3 and with two of those losses being lopsided.

The Cavaliers have drifted into the bottom 10 of the NBA in both offensive (103.4, 21st) and defensive (109.5, 23rd) rating. That’s never a good formula for success.

Cleveland is also down another big after John Henson, who did not play for the Cavs after being acquired from Milwaukee last season before of a wrist injury, will miss two to four weeks because of a right hamstring strain. Ante Zizic is already out with plantar fascitis and is out until at least late November.

Tristan Thompson is showing signs of cooling off after scoring at a pace he never had before to open the season. Since scoring 23 points in the win against the Bulls on Wednesday, Thompson has just 18 points on 7-of-18 shooting in the last two games. He does, however, have six straight double-doubles to open the campaign.

169. . 3-3. Previous: . Houston Rockets. 20. team

Last week: Won vs. Oklahoma City 116-112, won at Washington 159-158, lost at Brooklyn 123-116, lost at Miami 129-100

This week: Monday at Memphis, Wednesday vs. Golden State, Saturday at Chicago

The Houston Rockets can score, ranking fourth in the NBA in adjusted offensive rating, per Cleaning the Glass, at 111.9 points per 100 possessions. The problem is the Rockets can’t stop anyone else from scoring, with a 29th-ranked defensive rating of 117.1 and allowing the highest effective field goal percentage in the NBA at 59.5 percent.

There were signs of trouble on the horizon when Houston won its third straight game by beating the Wizards 159-158 on Wednesday. That trouble manifested itself with a loss at Brooklyn on Friday followed by a 129-100 drubbing at the hands of the Heat in Miami Sunday night.

Houston made an adjustment to the starting lineup Sunday, swapping out Danuel House at the 3 and starting Eric Gordon. Gordon responded with four points on 2-of-10 shooting.

House was solid much of the week, including a season-high 16 points to go with seven rebounds and two steals in 29 minutes in the win at Washington, going 5-for-9 overall and 4-for-7 from 3-point range. He’s at 12.2 points and 4.7 rebounds in 28.8 minutes per game on 47.9 shooting overall and 45.5 percent on 5.5 3-point attempts per game thus far this season.
