3. Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks)

In an interview immediately after his head-to-head meeting with Luka Doncic last week, LeBron reflected on his career and the much-publicized influence he’s had on Doncic.

"“You never know who you can inspire, along your path,” James told ESPN’s Doris Burke. “You hope you can inspire the next generation. For me, by me playing the game the right way, always getting my teammates involved, playing for the purity of the game, I was able to inspire a kid that wasn’t even in America. That’s pretty special. “Obviously we see what [Luka’s] capable of doing. His ability to make plays not only for himself, but for his teammates, rebounding, just play for the purity of the game, it’s a beautiful thing to watch.”"

Doncic has regularly talked about what LeBron means to him, calling LeBron his “inspiration” on his way to the game’s highest level.

The face of the Mavericks is a big (6’7″) point guard who can excel at any perimeter position. His game is more slick where LeBron’s is powerful, but Doncic has the LeBron-like penchant for making the right pass at the right time while knowing when it’s time to take the clutch shot himself.

Doncic was an immediate-impact star, winning Rookie of the Year last season while averaging 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game.

He is the leader in guiding Dallas through its transition from the Dirk Nowitzki era, and early into this season the team already looks like a threat to make noise in the Western Conference.
