6. Chris Paul (Oklahoma City Thunder)

If LeBron James was six feet tall, he’d be something like Chris Paul, now with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Coincidentally, LBJ and CP3 are best friends and charter members of the NBA’s version of “The Kliq” along with recently retired Dwyane Wade and might-as-well-be-retired Carmelo Anthony.

Paul shares LeBron’s cerebral approach to the game, passing wizardry and demonstrative leadership. He also shares the knack for flopping, over-the-top theatrics and constant bickering with referees.

From outward appearances, LeBron does seem to have more fun on the court than Paul — think Magic Johnson’s demeanor versus Isiah Thomas‘ demeanor — but the two future Hall of Famers are wired the same. Perhaps that surface difference comes from LeBron being comfortable as a three-time NBA champion, while Paul is still chasing his first ring.

Paul’s clutch ability is unfairly dismissed, a common occurrence throughout LeBron’s career despite his crowded trophy case.

While Paul doesn’t have a championship and hasn’t even played in an NBA Finals, he does have a long list of clutch shots and big-time postseason performances on his resume.

He owns his share of the blame for some postseason shortcomings, but he’s also been a victim of untimely injuries (to himself and teammates) and he’s run into some juggernaut opponents in the playoffs.

Maybe if Paul was 6’8″ he would’ve added some championship jewelry like LeBron’s to his own collection of accolades.
