3. Extra shot creators

One of the most important things the Cleveland Cavaliers accomplished in the 2019 offseason is adding more shot creators to the lineup.

Last year, the Cavaliers had three primary shot creators — Collin Sexton, Cedi Osman and Jordan Clarkson. These three combined for 43.4 field goal attempts per game, about half of the team’s overall average of 87.6 attempts a night.

Of course, players such as Alec Burks and Rodney Hood spent some time creating shots for the Cavaliers, but neither spent the entire season with Cleveland.

As a result, the Cavaliers were limited offensively. This led to problems as no one outside of Clarkson, Osman and Sexton was capable of consistently creating their own shots.

This year, Cleveland has plenty of help offensively. In addition to the original three, the Cavaliers have shot creators in Kevin Porter Jr., Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson and Darius Garland.

This extra boost offensively has helped the Cavaliers greatly as the team is no longer stuck relying on the same three players to generate offense. The effects of this will trickle into our next topic of discussion.
