The Cleveland Cavaliers have hit the ground running in the 2019-20 NBA season.

Through three games, the Cleveland Cavaliers have proven they are not the same team that went 19-63 last season. This rendition of the Cavaliers has already been more competitive and fun to watch.

Although Cleveland currently has a 1-2 record, they have contested each game respectfully. At their best, they went toe-to-toe with the powerhouse Milwaukee Bucks for three quarters before running out of gas in the fourth.

This isn’t by coincidence. Despite popular belief, the Cleveland front office has worked diligently to patch the holes left by Kyrie Irving and LeBron James.

A strong start to the rebuild began with the drafting of Collin Sexton and the emergence of Cedi Osman last year. Sexton earned a spot on the 2018 All-Rookie second team while Osman appeared in the NBA’s Rising Stars game.

The franchise kept moving forward this summer with three solid pickups in the 2019 NBA Draft. Star prospects such as Darius Garland, Dylan Windler and Kevin Porter Jr. are looking to have an instant impact on the team.

Cleveland’s new pickups were compounded with massive developments from players like Tristan Thompson and Larry Nance Jr. A healthy Kevin Love is the cherry on top of a season that should be full of growth.

It’s still early, but we have already seen some trends arise. It’s time to break down a few negatives and positives the Cavaliers are showing so far.
