Points: Julius Randle

Julius Randle is the only consolation prize that New York Knicks fans got at the free agency flea market. Though it undoubtedly disappointed the vast majority of the crowd at first, Randle is not a bad pickup at all.

He is coming off a career year in which he was a borderline All-Star for the New Orleans Pelicans. He significantly improved his 3-point shot, allowing him to expand his game beyond the arc.

As a result, his scoring efficiency went way up and so was the number of points that he scored. By scoring 21.4 points per game, Randle would end the season as the 19th highest scorer in the league and as the 16th highest scorer when it came to his per-36 numbers.

One way or another, Randle will get you buckets. At the end of the day, this is what should concern Knicks fans and not whether they signed a sonorous name or not.

Here is a selection of players that averaged fewer points than Randle last season: D’Angelo Russell, Nikola Jokic, Jimmy Butler.

No, Randle is not a better player than the aforementioned just because he scores more. Those guys are All-Stars and All-NBA players for a reason. But you get the gist.
