Housewarming party spoiled as Golden State Warriors rocked by LA Clippers
3. Jacob Evans a small bright spot
Without many reliable options off the bench, Steve Kerr will have to put his faith in some of his more unproven players this season. One such example on Thursday night was Jacob Evans, a trust that was rewarded with an unexpected performance.
Evans registered 14 points in just 21 minutes of action, where he also shot 5-of-9 from the field including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.
A recent late first-round pick by the Golden State Warriors, Evans played sparingly as a rookie last season, appearing in just 30 games for the Dubs, racking up just 204 minutes.
With the Warriors scarce at nearly every position, Evans’ lack of experience is of little importance. He’ll get plenty of opportunities to show off his scoring touch and will likely get to experiment with the starting unit at some point in time.
Golden State needs all the help it can get right now and doesn’t figure to be picky regarding where it comes from. Evans looked the part against the Clippers, a minuscule bit of positive for Kerr to takeaway in an ugly loss that may prove beneficial down the line.
