2. Andrew Wiggins

Whether or not you enjoyed Andrew Wiggins‘ performance in this game probably comes down to how much you value output over efficiency. If you are more of a shooters-gonna-shoot person and a score-at-all-costs kind of person, you probably loved this game.

However, if you’re one of those silly “basketball purists” who think that a player actually shooting well is important, then you probably hated this game.

All kidding aside, Wiggins was atrocious during this performance. There are a lot of stats that I could pull out here, but I think the most important one is the fact that Wiggins had a plus/minus of minus-27.

I want to be totally clear here on just what that means. That means, that in a game where where his team won, Wiggins played across five quarters, for 36 minutes, the Minnesota Timberwolves were outscored by 27 points with Wiggins, and outscored the Nets by 28 points in just 17 minutes without him.

This is a player who is receiving a max contract. No player has ever done that in NBA history.

In fact, only 15 other players have recorded a minus-27 in a win and the best player among those is arguably Ty Lawson, who played just 16 minutes that night. Among those 15 players, only seven shot better than 30 percent and the best among those is arguably Jeff Green, who played just 21 minutes.

Again, Wiggins playef 36, and shot 37 percent. The closest we have to that is Stephen Jackson, who played 28 minutes and was a minus-27 in a win where he shot 21 percent. When you get over how bad that is, it’s kind of inspiring.
