2. A new-look sixth man
While it wasn’t his call, Goran Dragic is determined to make the best of his newfound role.
As he stated after the game, while coming off the bench is not what he wished for, particularly in a contract year, Dragic’s team-first approach is ultimately what will come to the fore, as seen on opening night.

The first man off the bench for the Miami Heat, Dragic had 19 points, three assists and three rebounds in 25 minutes of play, which also featured hitting two triples and nailing 9-of-10 from the free throw line. In fact, his 10 trips to the line were the most for Dragic since Nov. 7, 2017, such was the manner in which he was driving and attacking the paint.

Given the absence of Jimmy Butler and the presence of a trio of rookies playing a significant role, Dragic’s contributions were vital, with his ability to make an instant impact off the bench likely to become a recurring theme throughout the season.
So while many of the plaudits will be headed in the direction of many of his teammates, Dragic’s 15-point second half was a catalyst in the 24-1 run the Heat compiled, which ultimately put the game away for good.
