Following a terrific win to kick off the season, here are three takeaways from the 2019-20 season opener for the Miami Heat.

Despite the absence of four-time All-Star Jimmy Butler due to personal reasons and also getting off to a slow start by in trailing the Memphis Grizzlies 32-24 at the first break, the season opener for the Miami Heat was otherwise an unbridled success.

In defeating the Grizzlies 120-101, the Heat overcame the loss of Butler and an exciting Grizzlies team by turning to what the franchise prides itself in: defense.

Trailing 84-83 at the final break, the Heat closed with a 37-17 final term, sparked by a combination of their swarming defense and an outstanding contribution from their bench.
